Health and CGM Data
If you connect a continuous glucose monitor ("CGM") account to Glowcose, we collect and process CGM-related data to provide the Glowcose service. This section describes how we handle that information.
What CGM data we collect
When you link a supported CGM account, such as Dexcom or Libre, we may access:
- Glucose readings
- Timestamps associated with those readings
- Trend information, if provided by the CGM source
To retrieve your CGM data, we also store the information needed to maintain the connection to your CGM account. Data stored in our database is encrypted at rest, and sensitive connection information, such as credentials and tokens, is also encrypted and is not stored in plain text at the application layer.
How we use CGM data
We use CGM data only to provide the Glowcose service to you, including to:
- Display glucose status as ambient color on your Glowcose device or devices
- Provide related Glowcose web application functionality for setup, account management, and device management
We do not use CGM data for:
- Sale, licensing, or transfer to third parties for their own commercial purposes
- Secondary use unrelated to operating the Glowcose service
- Training machine learning or AI models
- Aggregated data products or research unless we clearly disclose the use and obtain any required consent before that use begins
This restriction applies to CGM-related data. We may still send service-related emails and, where permitted, optional product or marketing communications based on your account relationship and communication preferences.
CGM data retention
We retain CGM glucose readings only for the brief period needed to provide the current reading to your device or devices. We do not maintain historical archives of your CGM glucose data as part of the current Glowcose service.
If we introduce features that require longer retention in the future, we will update this policy before any such change takes effect.
CGM data deletion and revocation
You may disconnect your CGM integration in the Glowcose web app and keep your Glowcose account, or you may delete your account entirely through the Glowcose web app. If needed, you may also request assistance at info@glowcose.com.
If you disconnect or revoke a CGM integration, we stop receiving new CGM data for that connection. Any recently stored CGM readings expire automatically as part of our minimal-retention service design.
If you delete your account, we delete account and CGM-related data associated with that account within a reasonable period, generally within 7 days and often sooner. Glowcose currently provides an in-app confirmation screen for account deletion, but does not provide a separate automated confirmation email for that action.
Support access
In limited circumstances, we may access account or CGM-related information when you request technical support and that access is reasonably necessary to troubleshoot or resolve a service issue.
Important notice about medical decisions
Glowcose is an informational wellness product, not a medical device. The color display is intended for general awareness only and should not be used to make medical decisions. Always rely on your primary CGM manufacturer app or device, and your healthcare provider, for glucose values, alerts, and decisions related to your health or treatment.
